Lest it be forgotten – as the above comment indicates – Bob Short remains in the D.C. rogue’s gallery – as contemptible today as he was the night of the last Senator’s game at RFK, which was never completed as the fans overran the field pilfering anything they could as souvenirs. That night marked the utter disintegration of major league baseball in the nation’s capitol. A fitting mirror of the political and social patchwork which served as a canvas upon which the ruins of RFK would languish every summer for three decades until the almost messianic second coming of baseball in the form of the Nationals..
