A Glimpse Into the Past: Park View in 1924, Captured Just Before Thanksgiving

Here’s a photo we dug up on Shorpy. This is Park View in 1924, just before Thanksgiving. The man appears to be looking for the perfect bird for the family feast.

  1. This is one of two photos from the Library of Congress collection. I’ve included links to both of them below.

The date is actually 1919 as one of the photos shows up in the September 19, 1919 Washington Times http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn84026749/1919-09-19/ed-1/seq-13/

The community store was located in the basement of the Park View School, which also had a post office at that time.
