Back in the Day: A Look at the Row Houses of K St. NW

Back in the day, way back, there used to be fine row houses on K St. Now it’s overwhelmed by office buildings full of lawyers and lobbyists.

Check out this beautiful old image showing row houses at the intersection of 17th and K St. NW.

  1. Methinks the caption should read “…17th and CONNECTICUT”, since Constitution is several blocks to the south and parallels K St.

  2. In 1938, my mother lived @ 1733 K. St. NW. Was curious if that was a residence, or perhaps the YWCA? She was from a small town in South Dakota, and became a famous singer in DC during the 1940s.
