In the foreground, you can see the Red Cross building and in the background, the Washington Monument and the Old Post Office Building. Click on the photo for a larger image.

Off in the distance, you can see the Capitol Building and the smokestacks in the middle are the Potomac Electric Power Co. plant at 14th an B St. NW (i.e., Constitution Ave. – why is it named Constitution Ave?).

is that DAR building to the right?

We used this image in “Foggy Bottom and the West End in Vintage Images” http://www.amazon.com/Foggy-Bottom-West-Vintage-Images/dp/1596293322/ref=as_li_tf_mfw?&linkCode=wey&tag=ghofdc-20 This is the view from the old Ordnance Building at 18th & E Sts NW looking east. The original Liberty Baptist Church is in the foreground. The building at center is a temporary building for the Red Cross.
