A Trip Down Memory Lane: Real Estate in Chevy Chase in 1913

We love digging up old ads from the papers like this one showing some great old real estate in Chevy Chase. You could get a great home in upper northwest back then for $6,500. Using the Bureau of Labor Statistics, that’s the equivalent of about $156,000 today. Not bad, considering these are easily million dollar homes today.

Does anyone recognize the homes in the advertisement above?

  1. The advertisement says to get off at Connecticut and Jennifer so I looked on Google streetview and there are a number of houses that look like this on Jennifer on the west side of Connecticut. I don’t know if they are the ones featured but they look like the same plan and front.
