Here is an advertisement from the Washington Times on June 28th, 1913. This is the estate formerly located at 107 South Royal St.

107 South Royal St. in Alexandria looks like this today.

UPDATE: This isn’t located at 107 South Royal St. Sorry … that’s where the selling agent was located. Help us locate this house, if it still exists.
It would be interesting to know where that house actually was. The sales office was at 107 South Royal St. based on the property having 22 acres, it had to be located somehwere else.
I’m pretty sure this is the house, at 305 Charles Alexander Court (ad mentions it’s on Mount Ida). Built in 1800. More pictures at Zillow: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/305-Charles-Alexander-Ct-Alexandria-VA-22301/12052977_zpid/
That phone number is easy to remember
The ad mentions a walkway to the Railroad station, and this one had a stop at Mount Ida. (Big file) http://alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/oha/info/OHADelRayRailway.pdf
The station was at Commonwealth Ave and Mount Ida Avenue
