A Look Back at 1955 Washington DC: A Family Photo from Mike

Thanks to GoDCer Mike for sending in this family photo from 1955. Below is the note he send:

Dear Ghosts of DC
This photo surfaced in our family a few years ago.  It was taken in 1955 and shows my parents, Sue and Joe, the year before they were married.  Sue worked at the Pentagon and Joe was stationed at Vint Hill Farm Station.  I guess there were street photographers who mailed the photo in the souvenir sleeve after it was developed.
They don’t have to do that anymore, do they?
Thanks!
-Mike

  1. That is wonderful! I need to dig through my stuff . My dad worked at the Capitol for years. As long back as I can remember. I have several photos of him that were in his work file. My sister always swore he built the dome of the Capitol because he was up there several times during work being done. Elizabeth Dole “borrowed” a hammer from him once and never returned him which is why I could never vote for either her or her husband. You cannot trust a woman who steals a hammer or the man that marries her………………..
