I know exact;y where it was. The church in the back was the universalist church at 13th and L nw. That whole neighborhood is gone. http://www.universalist.org/archives/cat_the_building.html
If it’s 13th & L NW, there is nothing like that there today. I work at that intersection in a big office building, surrounded by three other large buildings, all built in the 1970s-1990s timeframe.
The church is Metropolitan on M Street between 15th and 16th. The parking lot would be on N St.
What fascinates me is, someone apparently simply removed other parts of the building, floors, walls, stairs, leaving interior walls exposed to the elements and peeling. Understandable this building would no longer be standing, imagine the structural nightmare it became after so much of it was removed!
It looked to me like 6th & I.
