Above the cigar store is a dentist’s office, that of Dr. Johnston. I was able to dig up an advertisement from that same July of that same year. Check it out below.

The buildings in the background still stand and are now occupied by the Spy Museum. One of the signs on what’s now the Spy Museum says it’s a patent firm. That makes sense because the building on the left is, of course, today the Portrait Gallery, but back then it housed the Patent Office.
And it looks like a mailbox has been on that corner for at least 94 years.
