Can anyone identify the location of this photo? It was taken in 1900, showing a United States mail car.

This U.S. mail streetcar, owned and operated by the Capital Traction Company, was used to process and transport mail in Washington, DC.

By the way, you should check out this awesome old film of a mail streetcar heading down Pennsylvania Ave. NW.

Tom founded Ghosts of DC on January 4th, 2012 as a blog to uncover the lost and untold history of Washington, D.C. He has lived in the city for over a decade and loves exploring every corner of the District.

This shot was taken at the intersection of M St & 35th St, NW, in DC. If you look at the profile of the row houses going up the hill you can match them exactly to the ones in the Google Map. Pretty cool! Dixie Liquors is out of view behind the streetcar. Interesting to see the building next to Dixie Liquors was torn down at this time. I have seen it pictured in other photos. Thanks! http://goo.gl/maps/BA8zR
