Margaret Thatcher Visits President Carter

America was going through some really rough times in 1979, with a gloomy economy, a major oil crisis and the recent hostage situation in Tehran. In the winter of that year, Margaret Thatcher paid her first visit to Washington as the newly elected Prime Minister of Great Britain.

This video is apropos of course, given the arrival of current Prime Minister David Cameron (BTW, enjoy the first round of March Madness).

This is a wonderful speech by Prime Minister Thatcher at the White House on December 17th, 1979. She is a great public speaker and her delivery is excellent.
